Sacraments and Worship

In recognition of the facts that we humans are moral being and that the value of a person in the society is his degree of morality; the Marist institute provides a platform which will help every student to embrace sufficient morality irrespective of one’s denomination or back ground.

Each day opens up with the bell which is regarded as the voice of God for all in the school. The bell that is rung at 5.ooam symbolically urges all to wake up from sleep, to rise up from the dead so that Christ Jesus will shine upon you. In Marist schools the dormitory prefect says at hearing the bell -"laudatour Jesu Christus" while everybody responds – "Et Maria Mater Ejus". At this everybody wakes up with a jump from his bed says a little ejaculatory prayer such as Oh my God, I offer to you my soul and body.

Meditation which started after the last night prayer continues in complete silence. Join with the Morning Prayers in the chapel with others.  This prayer begins with the morning offering in which each renews the offering of his life, day’s activities and the brand new day to God through Mary.

On Sundays –There is moral instruction for each group from 11:30 __ 12 :30 and pious society meetings.  The academic time table also includes about two periods for each class known as religious and moral education R.M.E.

There is in the school compound a grotto of the Blessed Virgin Mary and another for Saint Marcellin Champagnat, the founder of the Marist Brothers of the schools. The Blessed Sacrament is installed in the school chapel and the chapel is aalways opened at designated periods for personal devotion.

SACRAMENTS

The school makes sure that every catholic student in the school receives the necessary sacraments. The sacrament of reconciliation is had at least once every month for those in need. Holy mass is celebrated every morning except on Wednesday when the mass is celebrated in that the 4.00 pm. The sacrament of baptism and preparation of first Holy Communion take place on Mondays and Tuesdays. Confirmation classes go on along with the preparation of Holy Communion. Members of the staff who are newly employed are reminded of the importance of fulfilling their moral obligations especially the sacrament of Matrimony and are highly supported by the both management and staff welfare association.

With all these in place sound morality is inescapable in M.C. A.
